Programs may be taken in full or as individual workshops.
Drop-ins accepted if space allows.

Tonal Drawing
Landscapes & Perspectives
SUNDAYS 9AM – 1PM
Tonal drawing focuses on shapes and values to create strong form, volume, and composition. Simplify shapes, master perspective, and distinguish tone from color to enhance your work. These techniques build a solid foundation for alla prima painting and confident visual expression.

Tonal Drawing
Figures
FRIDAYS 6PM – 10PM
Figure construction focuses on breaking the human body into basic shapes to build accurate form, volume, and gesture. Practice proportion, line of action, and anatomy to create balanced, dynamic figures.

Tonal Drawing
Portraits
MONDAYS 6PM – 10PM
Head construction focuses on building solid forms from the inside out using shape, symmetry, proportion, and gesture. Learn to capture likeness while understanding the structure and volumes of the head in three dimensions.

Painting Landscapes
Alla Prima
TUESDAYS 6PM – 10PM
Paint landscapes directly on the canvas in one session using wet-on-wet brushwork. Build the painting from large shapes to final details while controlling light, color, and composition. Practice decisive brushwork to create dynamic, finished landscapes.

Painting Figures
Alla Prima
WEDNESDAYS 6PM – 10PM
Paint the human figure in one session with bold, expressive brushwork. Simplify the body into basic shapes and build form, volume, and gesture directly on the canvas. Focus on light, proportion, and tonal relationships.

Painting Portraits
Alla Prima
THURSDAYS 6PM – 10PM
Paint portraits in a single session using direct, wet-on-wet techniques. Shape features and planes while rendering light, shadow, and volume. Develop accuracy and confidence in expressive portrait painting.

Master Study Workshop
SUNDAYS 2PM – 7PM
Focus on classical painting techniques in the Alla Prima tradition with 5-hour, hands-on workshops. Study a master painter—such as Rubens, Velázquez, Rembrandt, Bouguereau, Repin, or Sargent—and analyze color, composition, shapes, volumes, and likeness. Plan and complete a painting in one session using block-in strategies for values, proportions, and silhouette. Practice color harmony, brush economy, and edge handling to build confidence and strengthen your classical painting skills.

Uninstructed Live Model
Draw or paint from a live model every Saturday from 2–6 PM
Live model sessions run on most Saturdays unless a special workshop is scheduled.

Demo-Based Learning
Instruction is demo-first — each workshop features a demonstration with guided practice and individual feedback.
This structure helps build strong foundational habits and avoids the common pitfalls that can develop without a clear, visual example.
Curriculum May Adjust Based on Group Skill Level
We outline general topics for each workshop series, but learning isn’t always linear.
Depending on the experience level and needs of the group, the instructor may:
- Adjust the order of lessons
- Spend more time on foundational techniques
- Slow down or deepen certain steps before moving into more advanced work
This ensures that:
- No one feels overwhelmed
- Newer artists get the support they need
- More experienced participants receive deeper, more refined instruction
Skill-Appropriate Placement
If someone is new to drawing or needs additional foundational work before painting, we may recommend beginning with a drawing-focused workshop. This supports stronger long-term progress and a better experience in future painting sessions.
Communication
To help keep things smooth, we ask participants to:
- Let us know if their schedule changes
- Reach out with questions before purchasing if unsure which workshop is the best fit
- Inform us if they need to pause or switch workshop types
In return, we promise to:
- Respond in a timely and clear manner
- Accommodate schedule changes whenever possible
- Make sure you receive the instruction you paid for
Cancellations, Rescheduling & Credits
Because our workshops are small and planned around each participant, we don’t offer refunds once a workshop or workshop package is purchased.
That said, we understand that life and schedules can change unexpectedly.
If you need to miss a workshop or pause your attendance, you’ll keep full credit for any unused sessions, as long as you let us know in advance. You can:
- Pause your remaining sessions and return at a later date
- Switch into a different workshop/program if your goals or skill level change
- Transfer or gift your unused sessions to another person — just let us know who will be attending
Credits remain active for up to 6 months, provided you’ve communicated your pause with us.
If we don’t hear from you for an extended period, paused sessions may be released so we can plan class sizes.
When you’re ready to return, just reach out. We’ll let you know current availability and where we are in the workshop rotation.
